Fraser Kidd Funny Foibles
Project plan
This project plan is everything that I plan to do in the
animation here it shows what my structure will be, my target audience and the
stylistic approach. The project is that I have to create a 3D animation based
around the classic cartoons of the American hold golden age of animation like
Looney tunes, Walt Disney and Tex Avery despite being 3D animated its style of
slapstick and its premise will remain the same from the old cartoons. Since I’m
used to the 3ds max program I should be able to easily make the landscapes and
even when animating I will be able to know the tools. I may need help on making
the characters since they take a lot of time to create.
The animation must have good humour and comedy just like the
old cartoons I do plan to make the animation as funny as possible to make the
audience laugh since bringing humour is one of the main aspects of the cartoon
industry.
The main character
that I will create is a mixture of typical Walt Disney cartoon character
fashion with cute looks and flexible body parts while the characters funny
faces and slapstick style it will have are based on the styles of Tex Avery’s
cartoons
The picture above shows what the setting and theme it’s
going to be here it will be shown as a wild western theme and setting.
Many important requirements that I needed on the brief to
understand it well enough was to create mood boards, mind-maps, thumbnails,
storyboards, sketches, character drawings, landscape template and timescales.
All of these are for research and must be finished before I can do the actual
animation since I need to plan it.
The target audience I intend to aim the audience at are
children and adults the grew up with those cartoons because the classic
cartoons were aimed for children to watch and laugh it. Its violence will
definitely not be graphic and it will be really cartoonish and safe to watch.
It will also have a colourful style too
The narrative structure is that my animation has to be based
on what the cartoons of the 1040s-1960s looked like and what slapstick comedy
they followed in the storyline. It also has to be funny and something the
audience would laugh at and enjoy at. The narrative also has to have slapstick
humour with a fast pace to make it look like a cartoon a lot.
The originality of the animation is that despite being
inspired from old classic cartoons the animation will not be traditional hand
drawing 2D but it will have 3D graphics on a modern program and will be 3D
animation still retaining the style of the old cartoon premise with its premise
and slapstick.
This picture is a Looney tunes cartoon made and animated on
3D computer graphics.
The stylistic approach is that it will be colourful and the
landscapes won’t be too realistic looking since it is a cartoon and the
landscape parts will be either crooked bent and done in a type of cartoonish
art style instead of following what the exact model looks like in real life.
The style will be colourful since it has to represent a family friendly nature
and bring attention into the audience. All of this can be achieved by creating
the style on the 3Ds max program which creates a lot of 3d graphics to animate.
The process I would need to use to make the animation is
most importantly the main program 3ds max which can create the landscape
models, character models and most of the special effects like explosions and
fire. After finishing the animation on 3ds max it all gets rendered and then
the rendered 3ds max files are taken onto adobe premiere which is needed to
create a title sequence and end credits.
The time management is that I should be able to finish the
rest of the research by the end of this week by making the storyboards and
finishing them then I will be able to create the templates by this week. Once I
start doing the animation production I should be able to finish the landscape
in two weeks and I should be able to finish the characters in 2 weeks though it
depends if I will be getting any help on it, as for the animating it could take
either 7 weeks I know many of the tools already so it shouldn’t be as difficult.
